TOP 3 RENOVATIONS THAT DON’T ADD AS MUCH VALUE TO YOUR HOME AS YOU MAY THINK

Written By Jennifer Wilson

Not all renovations are created equal, and there are some renovations that cost more than the value they add to your home. Let’s dive right in:

1. SOLAR. Solar can be either leased, purchased through a program or out right purchased. Lease solar or solar purchased through a program can actually devalue your home. A lot of people don’t realize that when they’re having solar put on their house, but that can retract from the value.

2. POOL. Pools are expensive, they’re hare to install and honestly a lot of buyers aren’t looking for a pool and it’s actually a turn-off to a lot of people. So it can actually devalue your home in certain circumstances.

3. SPECIFIC DECOR. Anything that is very taste specific. What we mean by that is bright color paint, or bright colored shaggy type carpet, that you might love, but a lot of buyers aren’t going to appreciate when it comes time to tour your home.

So these are the top three things that you can do to your house that you probably add value, but don’t add as much as your think. If you’d like advice on improvements to do to your home, contact us.
